In the bavarian SME sector, a high reluctance to use cloud technologies can be observed. The main reasons for this are acceptance problems such as security concerns, data protection concerns and a feared dependence on specific operators. The lack of industry-specific cloud applications is also contributing to this reluctance. There are hardly any suitable offerings suited specifically to SMEs, as the existing solutions are primarily targeted at large companies. Another cause is the high heterogeneity of existing datasets and offers. These individual barriers can be addressed and solved centrally with the help of digital technologies.
The BayernCloud project is developing a reference architecture for this purpose. On the basis of this reference architecture, a platform and an open and transparent ecosystem of users, providers and developers can be developed. An appropriate platform would remove the obstaclesmentioned above and increase accessibility, especially for Bavarian SMEs.
